The criteria for establishing the requirements for "Best Practices in Student Services" were derived from OLN's. The OLN Governing Board approved the recommendations in December 2004. To receive the designation of "Best Practices in Student Services," institutions must provide information in five categories:

• Office Information
• Services Information
• Policy Information
• Contact Information
