3. If I am taking a course at a distance, how will I take exams?

Ohio institutions set their own guidelines for administering examinations online. This is a question you should ask your admissions counselor during the admissions process before you begin your online learning experience.

A general approach many institutions use is to have exams proctored. This means that the exams you take will be monitored by an individual in a location that the institution has approved prior to the test date.

There are often many variations that are acceptable to institutions that meet this standard. Some Ohio institutions are in a consortium that assists students who need exams proctored. The organization is called The National College Testing Association. The NCTA Web site shows those participating institutions in Ohio and throughout the country that offer their sites as locations and provide proctors for students who need the service.
