8. How can I learn more about occupations and careers?
Some people prefer to make decisions about their educational plans at the same time they review their career and occupational goals. If this describes you, there are several resources that may be helpful to you.
For the sake of simplicity we have categorized the resources into four main areas:
- Self-assessment: This section is organized to help you assess your interests, values, and strengths to help you consider a variety of occupations you might not have considered.
- Occupational Information: This section presents occupational information ranging from definitions and trends to industrial areas and fastest growing occupations.
- Career Resources: This section provides access to career Web sites that offer suggestions from career planning to resume writing to local and national employment trends
- Decision making: This section addresses how career myths and your decision-making style can influence your decisions.
If you have some general questions about careers, visit our FAQ for some quick answers. If your questions are not answered at our FAQ, please contact one of our Regional Coordinators for assistance.
Finally, OLN offers an online course, E 4 ME that addresses the relationship between distance learning options and careers. This course is free! The course is offered every month. To register, go to the E 4 ME home page at: http://www.e4meohio.org/.
